Art Alert: Rising talent Semo Siam in a concert in Alexandria

The young ambitious songwriter, producer and singer, who launched his debut album ‘Wadaa’ in October, founded Sefsafa Band, which combined some of the coastal city talents

Rising Egyptian talent Semo Siam from Alexandria will throw a concert at the Jesuit Cultural Centre on Thursday 16 January.

The young ambitious songwriter, producer and singer, who launched his debut album in October, will be accompanied by Omar Adel (bass guitar), Peter Malak (keyboards and ney) and Moemen El-Tony (percussions).

Siam, who is celebrating his 28th¬†birthday two days before the concert, is fond of deep-rooted African and Arabic grooves and rhythms. In the album ‘Wadaa’, he explores the electronic approach to his favorite genres with poetic lyrics written by a number of contemporary lyricist from his coastal city, which is witnessing a noticeable rise in the music field.

The founder of Sefsafa Band, which has experimented with a variety of styles like reggae, Gnawa and Egyptian folk, has participated in various workshops with local and international  artists.
